تَعْثَوْا۟

وَعَدَسِهَا
[and] its lentils,

وَبَصَلِهَا
and its onions."

أَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ
"Would you exchange

مِصْرًا
(to) a city,
×1
سَأَلْتُمْ
you have asked (for)."

وَٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ
and the misery

وَبَآءُو
and they drew on themselves

يَكْفُرُونَ
disbelieve

عَصَوا۟
they disobeyed
×5
وَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
and the Christians
×2
وَٱلصَّٰبِـِٔينَ
and the Sabians -

ٱلطُّورَ
the mount,

بِقُوَّةٍ
with strength,

لَكُنتُم
surely you would have been

ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ
the losers.

ٱعْتَدَوْا۟
transgressed

فَقُلْنَا
So We said

قِرَدَةً
apes,
×1
يَدَيْهَا
(of) them
×1
خَلْفَهَا
after them
×1
تَذْبَحُوا۟
you slaughter

بَقَرَةً
a cow."

أَتَتَّخِذُنَا
"Do you take us

أَكُونَ
I be

ٱدْعُ
"Pray

فَارِضٌ
old
×1
بِكْرٌ
young,
×1
عَوَانٌۢ
middle aged
×1
فَٱفْعَلُوا۟
so do
×2
لَوْنُهَا
(is) its color."

صَفْرَآءُ
yellow,
×1
فَاقِعٌ
bright
×1
تَسُرُّ
pleasing
×1
ٱلنَّٰظِرِينَ
(to) those who see (it).'"

ذَلُولٌ
trained
×1
تُثِيرُ
to plough
×2
تَسْقِى
water
×1
شِيَةَ
blemish
×6
جِئْتَ
you have come
×1
فَذَبَحُوهَا
So they slaughtered it,

يَفْعَلُونَ
