ءَاثَارِهِمَا
their footprints,

قَصَصًا
retracing.

عِبَادِنَآ
Our servants,

أَتَّبِعُكَ
I follow you

تُعَلِّمَنِ
you teach me

عُلِّمْتَ
you have been taught

تَسْتَطِيعَ
will be able,

صَبْرًا
(to have) patience.

وَكَيْفَ
And how can

تَصْبِرُ
you have patience

خُبْرًا
any knowledge."

سَتَجِدُنِىٓ
"You will find me,

أَعْصِى
I will disobey
×1
ٱتَّبَعْتَنِى
you follow me,

تَسْـَٔلْنِى
ask me

أُحْدِثَ
I present

فَٱنطَلَقَا
So they both set out

رَكِبَا
they had embarked
×1
خَرَقَهَا
he made a hole in it.

أَخَرَقْتَهَا
"Have you made a hole in it,

لِتُغْرِقَ
to drown

أَهْلَهَا
its people?

شَيْـًٔا
a thing

إِمْرًا
grave."

أَقُلْ
I say,

تُؤَاخِذْنِى
blame me

تُرْهِقْنِى
be hard (upon) me

عُسْرًا
(raising) difficulty."

لَقِيَا
they met

أَقَتَلْتَ
"Have you killed

زَكِيَّةًۢ
pure,

نُّكْرًا
evil."

سَأَلْتُكَ
I ask you

تُصَٰحِبْنِى
keep me as a companion.

لَّدُنِّى
from me

عُذْرًا
an excuse."

أَتَيَآ
they came

ٱسْتَطْعَمَآ
they asked for food
×1
فَأَبَوْا۟
but they refused

يُضَيِّفُوهُمَا
offer them hospitality.
