أَنَّآ
We

أَهْلَكْنَٰهُم
(had) destroyed them

قَبْلِهِۦ
before him,

لَقَالُوا۟
surely they (would) have said,

فَنَتَّبِعَ
so we (could) have followed

نَّذِلَّ
we were humiliated
×1
وَنَخْزَىٰ
and disgraced."

مُّتَرَبِّصٌ
(is) waiting;

فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟
so await.

ٱلسَّوِىِّ
[the] even,

يَأْتِيهِم
comes to them
×2
مُّحْدَثٍ
anew
×1
ٱسْتَمَعُوهُ
they listen to it
×1
لَاهِيَةً
Distracted
×1
أَفَتَأْتُونَ
So would you approach
×2
أَضْغَٰثُ
"Muddled
×2
أَحْلَٰمٍۭ
dreams;
×1
فَلْيَأْتِنَا
So let him bring us

ءَامَنَتْ
believed
×2
أَفَهُمْ
so will they
×2
جَعَلْنَٰهُمْ
We made them
×1
صَدَقْنَٰهُمُ
We fulfilled (for) them
×1
فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُمْ
and We saved them
×1
وَأَهْلَكْنَا
and We destroyed
×7
ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
the transgressors.
×1
ذِكْرُكُمْ
(is) your mention.

تَعْقِلُونَ
you use reason?
×1
قَصَمْنَا
We (have) shattered
×8
ءَاخَرِينَ
another people.
×1
أَحَسُّوا۟
they perceived
×10
بَأْسَنَآ
Our torment,
×1
يَرْكُضُونَ
were fleeing.
×1
تَرْكُضُوا۟
Flee not,
×1
وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟
but return
×1
أُتْرِفْتُمْ
you were given luxury
×1
وَمَسَٰكِنِكُمْ
and to your homes,

لَعَلَّكُمْ
so that you may
×5
تُسْـَٔلُونَ
be questioned.
×1
زَالَت
ceased
×1
خَٰمِدِينَ
extinct.
×2
لَٰعِبِينَ
(for) playing.
×2
نَّتَّخِذَ
We take
×3
لَهْوًا
a pastime,
×1
لَّٱتَّخَذْنَٰهُ
surely We (could have) taken it
×1
نَقْذِفُ
We hurl
×1
فَيَدْمَغُهُۥ
and it breaks its head,
×1
زَاهِقٌ
vanishing.
×1
ٱلْوَيْلُ
(is) destruction
