Ayah 1
لَآ Nay! أُقْسِمُ I swear بِهَٰذَا by this ٱلْبَلَدِ city,
English - I swear by this city, Makkah – .
हिंदी - मैं इस शहर की क़सम खाता हूँ।.
Ayah 2
وَأَنتَ And you حِلٌّۢ (are) free (to dwell) بِهَٰذَا in this ٱلْبَلَدِ city.
English - And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city – .
हिंदी - और तुम इसी शहर में रहते हो।.
Ayah 3
وَوَالِدٍ And the begetter وَمَا and what وَلَدَ he begot.
English - And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], .
हिंदी - और क़सम है, बाप की और उसकी औलाद की ।.
Ayah 4
لَقَدْ Certainly, خَلَقْنَا We have created ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ man فِى (to be) in كَبَدٍ hardship.
English - We have certainly created man into hardship. .
हिंदी - हमने इन्सान को मुसीबत में पैदा किया है।.
Ayah 5
أَيَحْسَبُ Does he think أَن that لَّن not يَقْدِرَ has power عَلَيْهِ over him أَحَدٌ anyone?
English - Does he think that never will anyone overcome him? .
हिंदी - क्या वह यह समझता है कि उस पर कोई क़ाबू न पा सकेगा ।.
Ayah 6
يَقُولُ He will say, أَهْلَكْتُ "I have squandered مَالًا wealth لُّبَدًا abundant."
English - He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." .
हिंदी - वह कहता है कि मैं ने ढेरों माल उड़ा दिया ।.
Ayah 7
أَيَحْسَبُ Does he think أَن that لَّمْ not يَرَهُۥٓ sees him أَحَدٌ anyone?
English - Does he think that no one has seen him? .
हिंदी - क्या वह यह समझता है कि उसे कोई नहीं देखता ?.
Ayah 8
أَلَمْ Have not نَجْعَل We made لَّهُۥ for him عَيْنَيْنِ two eyes?
English - Have We not made for him two eyes? .
हिंदी - क्या हमने उसे दो आँखें नहीं दीं ?.
Ayah 9
وَلِسَانًا And a tongue, وَشَفَتَيْنِ and two lips?
English - And a tongue and two lips? .
हिंदी - और एक ज़बान और दो होंठ नहीं दिए ?.
Ayah 10
وَهَدَيْنَٰهُ And shown him ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ the two ways?
English - And have shown him the two ways? .
हिंदी - और हम ने उसे दो रास्ते दिखा दिए।.
Ayah 11
فَلَا But not ٱقْتَحَمَ he has attempted ٱلْعَقَبَةَ the steep path.
English - But he has not broken through the difficult pass. .
हिंदी - मगर वह घाटी पार नहीं कर सका ।.
Ayah 12
وَمَآ And what أَدْرَىٰكَ can make you know مَا what ٱلْعَقَبَةُ the steep path (is)?
English - And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass? .
हिंदी - और तुम्हें क्या मालूम कि घाटी क्या है?.
Ayah 13
فَكُّ (It is) freeing رَقَبَةٍ a neck,
English - It is the freeing of a slave .
हिंदी - वह ग़ुलाम का आज़ाद कराना है।.
Ayah 14
أَوْ Or إِطْعَٰمٌ feeding فِى in يَوْمٍ a day ذِى of مَسْغَبَةٍ severe hunger.
English - Or feeding on a day of severe hunger .
हिंदी - या खाना खिलाना है, भुकमरी के दिन में।.
Ayah 15
يَتِيمًا An orphan ذَا of مَقْرَبَةٍ near relationship,
English - An orphan of near relationship .
हिंदी - किसी रिश्तेदार अनाथ को।.
Ayah 16
أَوْ Or مِسْكِينًا a needy person ذَا in مَتْرَبَةٍ misery,
English - Or a needy person in misery .
हिंदी - या किसी बेसहारा मोहताज को ।.
Ayah 17
ثُمَّ Then كَانَ he is مِنَ of ٱلَّذِينَ those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ and enjoin (each other) بِٱلصَّبْرِ to patience, وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ and enjoin (each other) بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ to compassion.
English - And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. .
हिंदी - फिर वह उन लोगो में से हो जो ईमान लाए और एक दूसरे को सब्र की नसीहत और रहम करने की वसीयत की ।.
Ayah 18
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ Those أَصْحَٰبُ (are the) companions ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ (of) the right (hand)
English - Those are the companions of the right. .
हिंदी - यह लोग खुशनसीब हैं।.
Ayah 19
وَٱلَّذِينَ But those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا in Our Verses, هُمْ they أَصْحَٰبُ (are the) companions ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ (of) the left (hand).
English - But they who disbelieved in Our signs – those are the companions of the left. .
हिंदी - और जिन लोगों ने हमारी आयतों का इन्कार किया वह लोग बदबख़्त हैं।.
Ayah 20
عَلَيْهِمْ Over them, نَارٌ (will be the) Fire مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢ closed in.
English - Over them will be fire closed in. .
हिंदी - उनके ही ऊपर बन्द की हुई आग है।.
