Ayah 1
لَآ Nay! أُقْسِمُ I swear بِيَوْمِ by (the) Day ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection.
English - I swear by the Day of Resurrection .
हिंदी - मैं क़सम खाता हूंए क़ियामत के दिन की।.
Ayah 2
وَلَآ And nay! أُقْسِمُ I swear بِٱلنَّفْسِ by the soul ٱللَّوَّامَةِ self-accusing.
English - And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection]. .
हिंदी - और मैं कसम खाता हूं, दोष देने वाली आत्मा की।.
Ayah 3
أَيَحْسَبُ Does think ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ [the] man أَلَّن that not نَّجْمَعَ We will assemble عِظَامَهُۥ his bones?
English - Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? .
हिंदी - क्या इंसान यह समझता है की हम उसकी हड्डियों को जमा न करेंगे ?.
Ayah 4
بَلَىٰ Nay! قَٰدِرِينَ (We are) Able عَلَىٰٓ on أَن that نُّسَوِّىَ We can restore بَنَانَهُۥ his fingertips.
English - Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. .
हिंदी - क्यों नहीं ? हम तो उस के पोरवों तक को ठीक करने की ताक़त रखते हैं ।.
Ayah 5
بَلْ Nay! يُرِيدُ Desires ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ [the] man لِيَفْجُرَ to give (the) lie أَمَامَهُۥ (to) what is before him.
English - But man desires to continue in sin. .
हिंदी - बल्कि इंसान चाहता है, कि अपने आगे गुनाह करता रहे।.
Ayah 6
يَسْـَٔلُ He asks, أَيَّانَ "When يَوْمُ (is the) Day ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection?"
English - He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" .
हिंदी - वह पुछता है, कि क़ियामत का दिन कब होगा।.
Ayah 7
فَإِذَا So when بَرِقَ is dazzled ٱلْبَصَرُ the vision,
English - So when vision is dazzled .
हिंदी - तो जब निगाह चौंधिया जाएगी ।.
Ayah 8
وَخَسَفَ And becomes dark ٱلْقَمَرُ the moon,
English - And the moon darkens .
हिंदी - और चाँद को ग्रहण लग जाएगा।.
Ayah 9
وَجُمِعَ And are joined ٱلشَّمْسُ the sun وَٱلْقَمَرُ and the moon,
English - And the sun and the moon are joined, .
हिंदी - और सूरज और चाँद जमा कर दिए जाएंगे।.
Ayah 10
يَقُولُ Will say ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ [the] man يَوْمَئِذٍ that Day, أَيْنَ "Where ٱلْمَفَرُّ (is) the escape?"
English - Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" .
हिंदी - उस दिन इंसान कहेगा श्कहाँ है भागने कि जगहश् घ्.
Ayah 11
كَلَّا By no means! لَا (There is) no وَزَرَ refuge.
English - No! There is no refuge. .
हिंदी - हरगिज़ नहींए कोई शरण स्थल नहीं।.
Ayah 12
إِلَىٰ To رَبِّكَ your Lord, يَوْمَئِذٍ that Day, ٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ (is) the place of rest.
English - To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. .
हिंदी - उस दिन तेरे रब के पास ही ठिकाना है।.
Ayah 13
يُنَبَّؤُا۟ Will be informed ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ [the] man يَوْمَئِذٍۭ that Day بِمَا of what قَدَّمَ he sent forth وَأَخَّرَ and kept back.
English - Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. .
हिंदी - उस दिन इंसान को बता दिया जाएगा जो कुछ उसने आगे भेजा और जो कुछ उसने पीछे छोड़ा।.
Ayah 14
بَلِ Nay! ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ [The] man عَلَىٰ against نَفْسِهِۦ himself بَصِيرَةٌ (will be) a witness.
English - Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, .
हिंदी - बल्कि इंसान खुद ही अपने आप पर निगाह रखता है।.
Ayah 15
وَلَوْ Even if أَلْقَىٰ he presents مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ his excuses.
English - Even if he presents his excuses. .
हिंदी - चाहे वह कितने ही बहाने बनाए।.
Ayah 16
لَا Not تُحَرِّكْ move بِهِۦ with it لِسَانَكَ your tongue لِتَعْجَلَ to hasten بِهِۦٓ with it.
English - Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur’an. .
हिंदी - ज़बान को हरकत न दिजीए उस को जलदी करने के लिए ।.
Ayah 17
إِنَّ Indeed, عَلَيْنَا upon Us جَمْعَهُۥ (is) its collection وَقُرْءَانَهُۥ and its recitation.
English - Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. .
हिंदी - बेशक उस का जमा करना और उस का पढ़ना हमारे ज़िम्मे है।.
Ayah 18
فَإِذَا And when قَرَأْنَٰهُ We have recited it, فَٱتَّبِعْ then follow قُرْءَانَهُۥ its recitation.
English - So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. .
हिंदी - तो जब हम उसे पढ़ें तो उसके पढ़ने के साथ साथ रहें।.
Ayah 19
ثُمَّ Then إِنَّ indeed, عَلَيْنَا upon Us بَيَانَهُۥ (is) its explanation.
English - Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. .
हिंदी - फिर उस का समझाना हमारे ज़िम्मे है ।.
Ayah 20
كَلَّا No! بَلْ But تُحِبُّونَ you love ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ the immediate,
English - No! But you love the immediate .
हिंदी - हरगिज़ नहींए बल्कि तुम जलदी मिलनेवाली चीज़ से मुहब्बन रखते हो।.
Ayah 21
وَتَذَرُونَ And leave ٱلْءَاخِرَةَ the Hereafter.
English - And leave the Hereafter. .
हिंदी - और आखि़रत को छोड़ देते हो।.
Ayah 22
وُجُوهٌ Faces يَوْمَئِذٍ that Day نَّاضِرَةٌ (will be) radiant,
English - [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, .
हिंदी - उस दिन कुछ चेहरे तरो ताज़ा होंगे।.
Ayah 23
إِلَىٰ Towards رَبِّهَا their Lord نَاظِرَةٌ looking,
English - Looking at their Lord. .
हिंदी - अपने रब की तरफ देख रहे होंगे।.
Ayah 24
وَوُجُوهٌ And faces يَوْمَئِذٍۭ that Day بَاسِرَةٌ (will be) distorted,
English - And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, .
हिंदी - और कुछ चेहरे उस दिन उदास होंगे।.
Ayah 25
تَظُنُّ Thinking أَن that يُفْعَلَ will be done بِهَا to them فَاقِرَةٌ backbreaking.
English - Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. .
हिंदी - समझ रहे होंगे कि उनके साथ कमर तोड़ने वाला मामला किया जाएगा।.
Ayah 26
كَلَّآ No! إِذَا When بَلَغَتِ it reaches ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ the collar bones
English - No! When the soul has reached the collar bones .
हिंदी - हरगिज़ नहीं जब वह हंसली तक पहँुच जाएगी।.
Ayah 27
وَقِيلَ And it is said, مَنْ "Who رَاقٍ (will) cure?"
English - And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" .
हिंदी - और कहा जाएगा, “है कोई झाड़ फँूक करने वाला” ?.
Ayah 28
وَظَنَّ And he is certain أَنَّهُ that it ٱلْفِرَاقُ (is) the parting.
English - And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation .
हिंदी - और समझेगा कि यह जुदाई है।.
Ayah 29
وَٱلْتَفَّتِ And is wound, ٱلسَّاقُ the leg بِٱلسَّاقِ about the leg,
English - And the leg is wound about the leg, .
हिंदी - और पिंडली से पिंडली लिपट जाएगी।.
Ayah 30
إِلَىٰ To رَبِّكَ your Lord يَوْمَئِذٍ that Day ٱلْمَسَاقُ (will be) the driving.
English - To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession. .
हिंदी - उस दिन अपने रब की तरफ चलना है।.
Ayah 31
فَلَا And not صَدَّقَ he accepted (the) truth وَلَا and not صَلَّىٰ he prayed.
English - And the disbeliever had not believed, nor had he prayed. .
हिंदी - उसने न सच माना और न नमाज़ पढ़ी।.
Ayah 32
وَلَٰكِن But كَذَّبَ he denied وَتَوَلَّىٰ and turned away.
English - But [instead], he denied and turned away. .
हिंदी - बल्कि उस ने झुठलाया और पलट गया।.
Ayah 33
ثُمَّ Then ذَهَبَ he went إِلَىٰٓ to أَهْلِهِۦ his family, يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ swaggering.
English - And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride]. .
हिंदी - फिर वह अपने घर वालों की तरफ इतराता हुआ गया।.
Ayah 34
أَوْلَىٰ Woe لَكَ to you, فَأَوْلَىٰ and woe!
English - Woe to you, and woe! .
हिंदी - अफ़सोस है, तुझ पर अफ़सोस ।.
Ayah 35
ثُمَّ Then أَوْلَىٰ woe لَكَ to you, فَأَوْلَىٰٓ and woe!
English - Then woe to you, and woe! .
हिंदी - फिर अफ़ासोस है, तुझ पर अफ़सोस।.
Ayah 36
أَيَحْسَبُ Does think ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ man أَن that يُتْرَكَ he will be left سُدًى neglected?
English - Does man think that he will be left neglected? .
हिंदी - क्या इंसान गुमान करता है, कि वह यूँ ही आज़ाद छोड़ दिया जाएगा ?.
Ayah 37
أَلَمْ Was not يَكُ he نُطْفَةً a semen-drop مِّن of مَّنِىٍّ semen يُمْنَىٰ emitted?
English - Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted? .
हिंदी - क्या वह मनी का एक क़तरा न थाए जिसे टपकाया गया।.
Ayah 38
ثُمَّ Then كَانَ he was عَلَقَةً a clinging substance, فَخَلَقَ then He created فَسَوَّىٰ and proportioned.
English - Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allah] created [his form] and proportioned [him] .
हिंदी - फिर वह जमा हुआ खून हुआ, फिर उस ने पैदा किया, और उसे सन्तुलित बनाया।.
Ayah 39
فَجَعَلَ Then made مِنْهُ of him ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ two kinds, ٱلذَّكَرَ (the) male وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ and the female.
English - And made of him two mates, the male and the female. .
हिंदी - फ़िर उसकी दो जातियाँ मर्द और औरत की बर्नाइं।.
Ayah 40
أَلَيْسَ Is not ذَٰلِكَ [that] بِقَٰدِرٍ (He) Able عَلَىٰٓ [over] أَن to يُحْۦِىَ give life ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ (to) the dead?
English - Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead? .
हिंदी - क्या वह इस की ताकत नहीं रखता की मुर्दों को ज़िन्दा कर दे।.
