Ayah 1
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا O you ٱلْمُزَّمِّلُ who wraps himself!
English - O you who wraps himself [in clothing], .
हिंदी - ऐ लिपटने वाले ।.
Ayah 2
قُمِ Stand ٱلَّيْلَ (in) the night, إِلَّا except قَلِيلًا a little,
English - Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little – .
हिंदी - रात में खड़े रहोए मगर कम।.
Ayah 3
نِّصْفَهُۥٓ Half of it, أَوِ or ٱنقُصْ lessen مِنْهُ from it قَلِيلًا a little,
English - Half of it – or subtract from it a little .
हिंदी - आधी रात या उससे कुछ कम कर लो ।.
Ayah 4
أَوْ Or زِدْ add عَلَيْهِ to it, وَرَتِّلِ and recite ٱلْقُرْءَانَ the Quran تَرْتِيلًا (with) measured rhythmic recitation.
English - Or add to it, and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. .
हिंदी - या उस से कुछ बढ़ा दो और कुरान को अच्छी तरह ठहर ठहर कर पढ़ो।.
Ayah 5
إِنَّا Indeed, We سَنُلْقِى will cast عَلَيْكَ upon you قَوْلًا a Word ثَقِيلًا heavy.
English - Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. .
हिंदी - बेशक हम तुम पर भारी बात डालने वाले हैं।.
Ayah 6
إِنَّ Indeed, نَاشِئَةَ (the) rising ٱلَّيْلِ (at) the night, هِىَ it أَشَدُّ (is) very hard وَطْـًٔا and most potent وَأَقْوَمُ and more suitable قِيلًا (for) Word.
English - Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. .
हिंदी - बेशक रात का उठना बहुत प्रभावकारी, और तिलावत के लिए ज़्यादा दुरूस्त है।.
Ayah 7
إِنَّ Indeed, لَكَ for you فِى in ٱلنَّهَارِ the day سَبْحًا (is) occupation طَوِيلًا prolonged.
English - Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. .
हिंदी - बेशक तुम्हारे लिए दिन में बहुत काम हैं।.
Ayah 8
وَٱذْكُرِ And remember ٱسْمَ (the) name رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord وَتَبَتَّلْ and devote yourself إِلَيْهِ to Him تَبْتِيلًا (with) devotion.
English - And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. .
हिंदी - और तुम अपने रब के नाम का ज़िक्र करो और ख़ुद को सब से अलग कर के उस के हो जाओ।.
Ayah 9
رَّبُّ (The) Lord ٱلْمَشْرِقِ (of) the east وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ and the west; لَآ (there is) no إِلَٰهَ god إِلَّا except هُوَ Him, فَٱتَّخِذْهُ so take Him وَكِيلًا (as) Disposer of Affairs.
English - [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. .
हिंदी - वह पूरब और पश्चिम का रब हैंए उस के सिवा कोई माबूद नहीं तो तुम उसी को कार्यसाधक बनालो।.
Ayah 10
وَٱصْبِرْ And be patient عَلَىٰ over مَا what يَقُولُونَ they say, وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ and avoid them, هَجْرًا an avoidance جَمِيلًا gracious.
English - And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. .
हिंदी - और जो कुछ वह कहते हैं उस पर धैर्य से काम लोए और नरमी से उनसे अलग हो जाओ।.
Ayah 11
وَذَرْنِى And leave Me وَٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ and the deniers, أُو۟لِى possessors ٱلنَّعْمَةِ (of) the ease, وَمَهِّلْهُمْ and allow them respite - قَلِيلًا a little.
English - And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. .
हिंदी - और मुझे और उन झुटलाने वालों को छोड़ दोएजो दौलतमंद हैंए और उनको थोड़ी सी मोहलत दो।.
Ayah 12
إِنَّ Indeed, لَدَيْنَآ with Us أَنكَالًا (are) shackles وَجَحِيمًا and burning fire,
English - Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire .
हिंदी - बेशक हमारे पास बेड़ियाँ, और दहकती हुई आग है।.
Ayah 13
وَطَعَامًا And food ذَا that غُصَّةٍ chokes وَعَذَابًا and a punishment أَلِيمًا painful.
English - And food that chokes and a painful punishment – .
हिंदी - और गले में फँसने वाला खाना और दर्दनाक सज़ा है।.
Ayah 14
يَوْمَ (On the) Day تَرْجُفُ will quake ٱلْأَرْضُ the earth وَٱلْجِبَالُ and the mountains, وَكَانَتِ and will become ٱلْجِبَالُ the mountains كَثِيبًا a heap of sand مَّهِيلًا pouring down.
English - On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. .
हिंदी - जिस दिन ज़मीन और पहाड़ काँपेंगे, और पहाड़ चूर चूर हो कर रेत के टीले हो जाएंगे।.
Ayah 15
إِنَّآ Indeed, We أَرْسَلْنَآ [We] have sent إِلَيْكُمْ to you رَسُولًا a Messenger شَٰهِدًا (as) a witness عَلَيْكُمْ upon you, كَمَآ as أَرْسَلْنَآ We sent إِلَىٰ to فِرْعَوْنَ Firaun رَسُولًا a Messenger.
English - Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. .
हिंदी - बेशक हम ने भेजा तुम्हारी तरफ़ एक रसूल गवाही देने वाला तुम परए जिस तरह हम ने भेजा थाए फ़िरऔन की तरफ़ एक रसूल।.
Ayah 16
فَعَصَىٰ But disobeyed فِرْعَوْنُ Firaun ٱلرَّسُولَ the Messenger, فَأَخَذْنَٰهُ so We seized him أَخْذًا (with) a seizure وَبِيلًا ruinous.
English - But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. .
हिंदी - तो फ़िरऔन ने उस रसूल की बात न मानीए तो हम ने उसे बड़ी सख़्ती के साथ पकड़ लिया।.
Ayah 17
فَكَيْفَ Then how تَتَّقُونَ will you guard yourselves, إِن if كَفَرْتُمْ you disbelieve, يَوْمًا a Day يَجْعَلُ (that) will make ٱلْوِلْدَٰنَ the children شِيبًا gray-haired?
English - Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white-haired? .
हिंदी - अगर तुमने इंकार कियाए तो उस दिन से कैसे बचोगे जो बच्चों को बूढ़ा कर देगा।.
Ayah 18
ٱلسَّمَآءُ The heaven مُنفَطِرٌۢ (will) break apart بِهِۦ therefrom, كَانَ is وَعْدُهُۥ His Promise مَفْعُولًا to be fulfilled.
English - The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. .
हिंदी - जिस निद आसमान फट जाएगा, उसका वादा पूरा होकर रहेगा।.
Ayah 19
إِنَّ Indeed, هَٰذِهِۦ this تَذْكِرَةٌ (is) a Reminder, فَمَن then whoever شَآءَ wills ٱتَّخَذَ (let him) take إِلَىٰ to رَبِّهِۦ his Lord سَبِيلًا a way.
English - Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. .
हिंदी - बेशक ये एक नसीहत है, तो जो व्यक्ति चाहे अपने रब का रास्ता अपना ले।.
Ayah 20
إِنَّ Indeed, رَبَّكَ your Lord يَعْلَمُ knows أَنَّكَ that you تَقُومُ stand أَدْنَىٰ (a little) less مِن than ثُلُثَىِ two-thirds ٱلَّيْلِ (of) the night, وَنِصْفَهُۥ and half of it وَثُلُثَهُۥ and a third of it وَطَآئِفَةٌ and (so do) a group مِّنَ of ٱلَّذِينَ those who مَعَكَ (are) with you. وَٱللَّهُ And Allah يُقَدِّرُ determines ٱلَّيْلَ the night وَٱلنَّهَارَ and the day. عَلِمَ He knows أَن that لَّن not تُحْصُوهُ you count it, فَتَابَ so He has turned عَلَيْكُمْ to you, فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ so recite مَا what تَيَسَّرَ is easy مِنَ of ٱلْقُرْءَانِ the Quran. عَلِمَ He knows أَن that سَيَكُونُ there will be مِنكُم among you مَّرْضَىٰ sick وَءَاخَرُونَ and others يَضْرِبُونَ traveling فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the land يَبْتَغُونَ seeking مِن of فَضْلِ (the) Bounty ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah, وَءَاخَرُونَ and others يُقَٰتِلُونَ fighting فِى in سَبِيلِ (the) way ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah. فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ So recite مَا what تَيَسَّرَ is easy مِنْهُ of it, وَأَقِيمُوا۟ and establish ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ the prayer وَءَاتُوا۟ and give ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ the zakah وَأَقْرِضُوا۟ and loan ٱللَّهَ Allah قَرْضًا a loan حَسَنًا goodly. وَمَا And whatever تُقَدِّمُوا۟ you send forth لِأَنفُسِكُم for yourselves مِّنْ of خَيْرٍ good, تَجِدُوهُ you will find it عِندَ with ٱللَّهِ Allah. هُوَ It خَيْرًا (will be) better وَأَعْظَمَ and greater أَجْرًا (in) reward. وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ And seek forgiveness ٱللَّهَ (of) Allah. إِنَّ Indeed, ٱللَّهَ Allah غَفُورٌ (is) Oft-Forgiving, رَّحِيمٌۢ Most Merciful.
English - Indeed, your Lord knows, [O Muhammad], that you stand [in prayer] almost two thirds of the night or half of it or a third of it, and [so do] a group of those with you. And Allah determines [the extent of] the night and the day. He has known that you [Muslims] will not be able to do it and has turned to you in forgiveness, so recite what is easy [for you] of the Qur’an. He has known that there will be among you those who are ill and others traveling throughout the land seeking [something] of the bounty of Allah and others fighting for the cause of Allah. So recite what is easy from it and establish prayer and give zakah and loan Allah a goodly loan. And whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah. It is better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. .
हिंदी - बेशक तुम्हारा रब जानता है कि तुम और तुम्हारे साथ एक गिरोंह लगभग दो तिहाई रात खड़ा रहता हैए और कभी आधी रात और कभी उस का तिहाई हिस्साए और अल्लाह ही रात और दिन का हिसाब रखता हैए वह जानता है कि तुम उस को पूरा न कर सकोगेए तो उस ने तुम पर रहम कियाए तो तुम कुरआन में जो आसानी से हो सके पढ़ लिया करोए उस ने जाना कि तुम में से कुछ बीमार होंगेए और कुछ खुदा की नेमत की तलाश में ज़मीन पर सफ़र कर रहे हांेगेए और कुछ लोग खुदा की राह में युद्ध कर रहे हांेगेए तो जितना तुम आसानी से हो सके उसे पढ़ लिया करो और नमाज़ क़ायम करोए और ज़कात देते रहो और खुदा को अच्छा क़र्ज़ा दोए और जो कुछ भलाई तुम अपने लिए आगे भेजोगे उसे अल्लाह के यहाँ ज़्यादा अच्छा और बहुत बड़ा बदला पाओगेए और तुम अल्लाह से माफ़ी मांगोए बेशक अल्लाह माफ़ करने वाला और बहुत रहम करने वाला है।.
