Ayah 1
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا O you ٱلَّذِينَ who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe! لَا (Do) not تَتَّخِذُوا۟ take عَدُوِّى My enemies وَعَدُوَّكُمْ and your enemies أَوْلِيَآءَ (as) allies تُلْقُونَ offering إِلَيْهِم them بِٱلْمَوَدَّةِ love وَقَدْ while كَفَرُوا۟ they have disbelieved بِمَا in what جَآءَكُم came to you مِّنَ of ٱلْحَقِّ the truth, يُخْرِجُونَ driving out ٱلرَّسُولَ the Messenger وَإِيَّاكُمْ and yourselves أَن because تُؤْمِنُوا۟ you believe بِٱللَّهِ in Allah, رَبِّكُمْ your Lord. إِن If كُنتُمْ you خَرَجْتُمْ come forth جِهَٰدًا (to) strive فِى in سَبِيلِى My way وَٱبْتِغَآءَ and (to) seek مَرْضَاتِى My Pleasure. تُسِرُّونَ You confide إِلَيْهِم to them بِٱلْمَوَدَّةِ love, وَأَنَا۠ but I Am أَعْلَمُ most knowing بِمَآ of what أَخْفَيْتُمْ you conceal وَمَآ and what أَعْلَنتُمْ you declare. وَمَن And whoever يَفْعَلْهُ does it مِنكُمْ among you فَقَدْ then certainly ضَلَّ he has strayed سَوَآءَ (from the) straight ٱلسَّبِيلِ path.
English - O you who have believed, do not take My enemies and your enemies as allies, extending to them affection while they have disbelieved in what came to you of the truth, having driven out the Prophet and yourselves [only] because you believe in Allah, your Lord. If you have come out for jihad in My cause and seeking means to My approval, [take them not as friends]. You confide to them affection, but I am most knowing of what you have concealed and what you have declared. And whoever does it among you has certainly strayed from the soundness of the way. .
हिंदी - एै ईमान वालोए तुम मेरे और अपने दुशमनों को दोस्त न बनाओेए तुम उन की तरफ दोस्ती का पैग़ाम भेजते हो जब कि उन्हों ने इनकार किया हक़ का जो तुम्हारे पास आया है वह रसूल को और तुम्हें निकालते हैं इस लिए की तुम अपने रब अल्लाह पर ईमान रखते हो अगर तुम निकलते हो मेरे रास्ते में जिहाद के लिए और मेरी ख़ुशी चाहने के लिए तुम छिपा कर उन से दोसती की बात करते हो हालांकि जो कुछ तुम छिपा कर करते हो और जो खुल्लम खुल्ला करते हो हर चीज़ को मैं ख़ूब जानता हूं। और तुम में से जो कोई यह करेगा वह सीधे रास्ते से भटक गया।.
Ayah 2
إِن If يَثْقَفُوكُمْ they gain dominance over you, يَكُونُوا۟ they would be لَكُمْ to you أَعْدَآءً enemies وَيَبْسُطُوٓا۟ and extend إِلَيْكُمْ against you أَيْدِيَهُمْ their hands وَأَلْسِنَتَهُم and their tongues بِٱلسُّوٓءِ with evil, وَوَدُّوا۟ and they desire لَوْ that تَكْفُرُونَ you would disbelieve.
English - If they gain dominance over you, they would be to you as enemies and extend against you their hands and their tongues with evil, and they wish you would disbelieve. .
हिंदी - अगर वह लोग तुम पर क़ाबू पा जाएं तो तुम्हारे साथ दुश्मनी करेंगे और हाथ और ज़बान से तुम्हें दुख देंगे वे तो यह चाहते हैं कि तुम काफ़िर बन जाओ।.
Ayah 3
لَن Never تَنفَعَكُمْ will benefit you أَرْحَامُكُمْ your relatives وَلَآ and not أَوْلَٰدُكُمْ your children يَوْمَ (on the) Day ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection. يَفْصِلُ He will judge بَيْنَكُمْ between you. وَٱللَّهُ And Allah بِمَا of what تَعْمَلُونَ you do بَصِيرٌ (is) All-Seer.
English - Never will your relatives or your children benefit you; the Day of Resurrection He will judge between you. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing. .
हिंदी - तुम्हें हरगिज़ नफ़ा न देंगे तुम्हारे रिशतेदार और न तुम्हारी औलाद क़यामत के दिनए वह तुम्हारे बीच जुदाई डाल देगा और तुम जो कुछ करते हो अल्लाह देखता है।.
Ayah 4
قَدْ Indeed, كَانَتْ (there) is لَكُمْ for you أُسْوَةٌ an example حَسَنَةٌ good فِىٓ in إِبْرَٰهِيمَ Ibrahim وَٱلَّذِينَ and those مَعَهُۥٓ with him, إِذْ when قَالُوا۟ they said لِقَوْمِهِمْ to their people, إِنَّا "Indeed, we بُرَءَٰٓؤُا۟ (are) disassociated مِنكُمْ from you وَمِمَّا and from what تَعْبُدُونَ you worship مِن from دُونِ besides ٱللَّهِ Allah. كَفَرْنَا We have denied بِكُمْ you, وَبَدَا and has appeared بَيْنَنَا between us وَبَيْنَكُمُ and between you ٱلْعَدَٰوَةُ enmity وَٱلْبَغْضَآءُ and hatred أَبَدًا forever حَتَّىٰ until تُؤْمِنُوا۟ you believe بِٱللَّهِ in Allah وَحْدَهُۥٓ Alone." إِلَّا Except قَوْلَ (the) saying إِبْرَٰهِيمَ (of) Ibrahim لِأَبِيهِ to his father, لَأَسْتَغْفِرَنَّ "Surely I ask forgiveness لَكَ for you, وَمَآ but not أَمْلِكُ I have power لَكَ for you مِنَ from ٱللَّهِ Allah مِن of شَىْءٍ anything. رَّبَّنَا Our Lord, عَلَيْكَ upon You تَوَكَّلْنَا we put our trust, وَإِلَيْكَ and to You أَنَبْنَا we turn, وَإِلَيْكَ and to You ٱلْمَصِيرُ (is) the final return.
English - There has already been for you an excellent pattern in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, "Indeed, we are disassociated from you and from whatever you worship other than Allah. We have denied you, and there has appeared between us and you animosity and hatred forever until you believe in Allah alone" except for the saying of Abraham to his father, "I will surely ask forgiveness for you, but I have not [power to do] for you anything against Allah. Our Lord, upon You we have relied, and to You we have returned, and to You is the destination. .
हिंदी - तुम लोगों के लिए इब्राहीम और उसके साथियों में एक अच्छा नमूना है कि उन्होंने अपनी क़ौम से साफ कह दिया हम तुम से और तुम्हारे उन बुतो से जिन्हें तुम ख़ुदा के सिवा पूजते हो बिल्कुल अलग हैं हम ने तुम्हें नहीं माना हमारे और तम्हारे बीच हमेशा के लिए दुश्मनी और बैर ज़ाहिर हो गया यहां तक कि तुम एक अल्लाह पर ईमान ले आओ मगर इब्राहीम का अपने बाप से कहना कि मैं ज़रूर मग़फ़िरत मांगूँगा आप के लिए और मैं आप के लिए अल्लाह के आगे कुछ भी अधिकार नहीं रखता एै हमारे रब हम ने तुझ पर भरोसा किया और तेरी ही तरफ़ हम ने तौबा की और तेरी तरफ़ पलटना है।.
Ayah 5
رَبَّنَا Our Lord, لَا (do) not تَجْعَلْنَا make us فِتْنَةً a trial لِّلَّذِينَ for those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve, وَٱغْفِرْ and forgive لَنَا us, رَبَّنَآ our Lord. إِنَّكَ Indeed You أَنتَ [You] ٱلْعَزِيزُ (are) the All-Mighty, ٱلْحَكِيمُ the All-Wise."
English - Our Lord, make us not [objects of] torment for the disbelievers and forgive us, our Lord. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise." .
हिंदी - एै हमारे रब हमें काफ़िरों के लिए फ़ितना न बना और एै हमारे रब हमारी ग़लतियों को माफ़ कर दे बेशक तू ही ज़बरदस्त हिकमत वाला है।.
Ayah 6
لَقَدْ Certainly, كَانَ (there) is لَكُمْ for you فِيهِمْ in them أُسْوَةٌ an example حَسَنَةٌ good لِّمَن for (he) who كَانَ is يَرْجُوا۟ hopeful ٱللَّهَ (in) Allah وَٱلْيَوْمَ and the Day ٱلْءَاخِرَ the Last. وَمَن And whoever يَتَوَلَّ turns away, فَإِنَّ then indeed, ٱللَّهَ Allah, هُوَ He, ٱلْغَنِىُّ (is) Free of need, ٱلْحَمِيدُ the Praiseworthy.
English - There has certainly been for you in them an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day. And whoever turns away – then indeed, Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy. .
हिंदी - बेशक तुम्हारे लिए उन में बेहतरीन नमूना हैए उस के लिए जो उम्मीद रखता है अल्लाह और आखि़रत के दिन की और जिस ने मुँह मोड़ा तो बेशक अल्लाह बेनियाज़ तारीफ के लायक़ है।.
Ayah 7
عَسَى Perhaps ٱللَّهُ Allah أَن [that] يَجْعَلَ will put بَيْنَكُمْ between you وَبَيْنَ and between ٱلَّذِينَ those (to) whom عَادَيْتُم you have been enemies, مِّنْهُم among them مَّوَدَّةً love. وَٱللَّهُ And Allah قَدِيرٌ (is) All-Powerful. وَٱللَّهُ And Allah غَفُورٌ (is) Oft-Forgiving, رَّحِيمٌ Most Merciful.
English - Perhaps Allah will put, between you and those to whom you have been enemies among them, affection. And Allah is competent, and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. .
हिंदी - आशा है कि अल्लाह तुम्हारे दरमियान और उन लोगों के दरमियान मुहब्बत डाल दे जिन से तुम दुश्मनी रखते हो और अल्लाह ताक़त रखने वाला है और अल्लाह माफ़ करने वाला रहम करने वाला है।.
Ayah 8
لَّا Not يَنْهَىٰكُمُ (does) forbid you ٱللَّهُ Allah عَنِ from ٱلَّذِينَ those who لَمْ (do) not يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ fight you فِى in ٱلدِّينِ the religion وَلَمْ and (do) not يُخْرِجُوكُم drive you out مِّن of دِيَٰرِكُمْ your homes أَن that تَبَرُّوهُمْ you deal kindly وَتُقْسِطُوٓا۟ and deal justly إِلَيْهِمْ with them. إِنَّ Indeed, ٱللَّهَ Allah يُحِبُّ loves ٱلْمُقْسِطِينَ those who act justly.
English - Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes – from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly. .
हिंदी - अल्लाह तम्हें इस बात से नहीं रोकता कि तुम उन लोगों के साथ नरमी करो और उन के साथ इंसाफ करो, जिन्होंने तुम से दीन के मामले में लड़ाई नहीं की, और उन्हों ने तुन्हें नहीं निकाला तुम्हारे घरों से, अल्लाह इंसाफ करने वालों को पसन्द करता है।.
Ayah 9
إِنَّمَا Only يَنْهَىٰكُمُ forbids you ٱللَّهُ Allah عَنِ from ٱلَّذِينَ those who قَٰتَلُوكُمْ fight you فِى in ٱلدِّينِ the religion وَأَخْرَجُوكُم and drive you out مِّن of دِيَٰرِكُمْ your homes وَظَٰهَرُوا۟ and support عَلَىٰٓ in إِخْرَاجِكُمْ your expulsion, أَن that تَوَلَّوْهُمْ you make them allies. وَمَن And whoever يَتَوَلَّهُمْ makes them allies, فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ then those هُمُ [they] ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ (are) the wrongdoers.
English - Allah only forbids you from those who fight you because of religion and expel you from your homes and aid in your expulsion – [forbids] that you make allies of them. And whoever makes allies of them, then it is those who are the wrongdoers. .
हिंदी - अल्लाह तुम्हें जिस बात से रोकता है, वह यह है कि तुम उन लोगांे से दोस्ती करो जिन्होंने तुम से दीन के मामले में लड़ाई की, और तुम्हें तुम्हारे घरों से निकाला, और तुम्हें निकालने में एक दूसरे की मदद की, उन से जो लोग दोस्ती करंेगे वही ज़ालिम हैं।.
Ayah 10
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا O you ٱلَّذِينَ who ءَامَنُوٓا۟ believe! إِذَا When جَآءَكُمُ come to you ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ the believing women مُهَٰجِرَٰتٍ (as) emigrants, فَٱمْتَحِنُوهُنَّ then examine them. ٱللَّهُ Allah أَعْلَمُ (is) most knowing بِإِيمَٰنِهِنَّ of their faith. فَإِنْ And if عَلِمْتُمُوهُنَّ you know them مُؤْمِنَٰتٍ (to be) believers, فَلَا then (do) not تَرْجِعُوهُنَّ return them إِلَى to ٱلْكُفَّارِ the disbelievers. لَا Not هُنَّ they حِلٌّ (are) lawful لَّهُمْ for them وَلَا and not هُمْ they يَحِلُّونَ are lawful لَهُنَّ for them. وَءَاتُوهُم But give them مَّآ what أَنفَقُوا۟ they have spent. وَلَا And not جُنَاحَ any blame عَلَيْكُمْ upon you أَن if تَنكِحُوهُنَّ you marry them إِذَآ when ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ you have given them أُجُورَهُنَّ their (bridal) dues. وَلَا And (do) not تُمْسِكُوا۟ hold بِعِصَمِ to marriage bonds ٱلْكَوَافِرِ (with) disbelieving women, وَسْـَٔلُوا۟ but ask (for) مَآ what أَنفَقْتُمْ you have spent, وَلْيَسْـَٔلُوا۟ and let them ask مَآ what أَنفَقُوا۟ they have spent. ذَٰلِكُمْ That حُكْمُ (is the) Judgment ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah. يَحْكُمُ He judges بَيْنَكُمْ between you. وَٱللَّهُ And Allah عَلِيمٌ (is) All-Knowing, حَكِيمٌ All-Wise.
English - O you who have believed, when the believing women come to you as emigrants, examine them. Allah is most knowing as to their faith. And if you know them to be believers, then do not return them to the disbelievers; they are not lawful [wives] for them, nor are they lawful [husbands] for them. But give the disbelievers what they have spent. And there is no blame upon you if you marry them when you have given them their due compensation. And hold not to marriage bonds with disbelieving women, but ask for what you have spent and let them ask for what they have spent. That is the judgement of Allah; He judges between you. And Allah is Knowing and Wise. .
हिंदी - एै ईमान वालोए जब ईमान वाली औरतें घर बार छोड़ कर तुम्हारे पास आऐं तो उनहें जाँच लोए अल्लाह उनके ईमान को अच्छी तरह जानता हैए फिर जब तुम्हें वह ईमान वाली मालूम होए तो उन्हें काफ़िरों के पास वापस न करोए न वह उनके लिए हलाल हैं और न वह लोग इनके लिए हलालए और उन्हें वापस कर दो जो उन्हों ने ख़र्च कियाए और उनसे निकाह कर लेने में तुम पर कोई गुनाह नहींए जबकि तुम उनके मेहर उनको दे दोए और तुम खुद भी काफिर औरतों की इज़्ज़्त को क़बज़े में न रखोए और तुम ने जो ख़र्च किया हैए वह तुम वापस माँग लोए और जो उन्हों ने ख़र्च किया हैए उसे वे वापस मांग लेंए यह अल्लाह का हुक्म हैए वही तुम्हारे दरमियान फ़ैसला करता हैए और अल्लाह जानने वाला हिकमत वाला है।.
Ayah 11
وَإِن And if فَاتَكُمْ have gone from you شَىْءٌ any مِّنْ of أَزْوَٰجِكُمْ your wives إِلَى to ٱلْكُفَّارِ the disbelievers فَعَاقَبْتُمْ then your turn comes, فَـَٔاتُوا۟ then give ٱلَّذِينَ (to) those who ذَهَبَتْ have gone, أَزْوَٰجُهُم their wives, مِّثْلَ (the) like مَآ (of) what أَنفَقُوا۟ they had spent. وَٱتَّقُوا۟ And fear ٱللَّهَ Allah ٱلَّذِىٓ (in) Whom, أَنتُم you, بِهِۦ [in Him] مُؤْمِنُونَ (are) believers.
English - And if you have lost any of your wives to the disbelievers and you subsequently obtain [something], then give those whose wives have gone the equivalent of what they had spent. And fear Allah, in whom you are believers. .
हिंदी - और अगर तुम्हारी बीवियों में से कोइ काफ़िरों के पास चली जाएए और फिर तुम सज़ा दो तो जिन लोगों की बीवियाँ चली गाई हैंए उन्हें जितना उन्होंने ख़र्च किया है दे दोए और अल्लाह से डरो जिस पर तुम ईमान रखते हो।.
Ayah 12
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا O ٱلنَّبِىُّ Prophet! إِذَا When جَآءَكَ come to you ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ the believing women يُبَايِعْنَكَ pledging to you عَلَىٰٓ [on] أَن that لَّا not يُشْرِكْنَ they will associate بِٱللَّهِ with Allah شَيْـًٔا anything, وَلَا and not يَسْرِقْنَ they will steal, وَلَا and not يَزْنِينَ they will commit adultery, وَلَا and not يَقْتُلْنَ they will kill أَوْلَٰدَهُنَّ their children, وَلَا and not يَأْتِينَ they bring بِبُهْتَٰنٍ slander, يَفْتَرِينَهُۥ they invent it بَيْنَ between أَيْدِيهِنَّ their hands وَأَرْجُلِهِنَّ and their feet, وَلَا and not يَعْصِينَكَ they will disobey you فِى in مَعْرُوفٍ (the) right, فَبَايِعْهُنَّ then accept their pledge وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ and ask forgiveness لَهُنَّ for them ٱللَّهَ (from) Allah. إِنَّ Indeed, ٱللَّهَ Allah غَفُورٌ (is) Oft-Forgiving, رَّحِيمٌ Most Merciful.
English - O Prophet, when the believing women come to you pledging to you that they will not associate anything with Allah, nor will they steal, nor will they commit unlawful sexual intercourse, nor will they kill their children, nor will they bring forth a slander they have invented between their arms and legs, nor will they disobey you in what is right – then accept their pledge and ask forgiveness for them of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. .
हिंदी - एै नबी, जब तुम्हारे पास ईमान वाली औरतें आऐं इस बात पर बैअत करने के लिए कि वह अल्लाह के साथ किसी को साझी नहीं करेंगी, और न चोरी करेंगी, और न ज़िना करेंगी, और न वह क़त्ल करेंगी अपनी औलाद को, और न अपने हाथों और पैरों के बीच कोई आरोप घड़कर लाएंगी, और न किसी नेक काम में तुम्हारी नाफ़रमानी करेंगी, तो तुम उनसे बैअत ले लो, और अल्लाह से उनके लिए मग़फ़िरत की दुआ माँगो, बेशक अल्लाह माफ़ करने वाला, मेहरबान है।.
Ayah 13
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا O you ٱلَّذِينَ who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe! لَا (Do) not تَتَوَلَّوْا۟ make allies قَوْمًا (of) a people, غَضِبَ (The) wrath ٱللَّهُ (of) Allah عَلَيْهِمْ (is) upon them. قَدْ Indeed, يَئِسُوا۟ they despair مِنَ of ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ the Hereafter كَمَا as يَئِسَ despair ٱلْكُفَّارُ the disbelievers مِنْ of أَصْحَٰبِ (the) companions ٱلْقُبُورِ (of) the graves.
English - O you who have believed, do not make allies of a people with whom Allah has become angry. They have despaired of [reward in] the Hereafter just as the disbelievers have despaired of [meeting] the inhabitants of the graves. .
हिंदी - एै ईमान वालोए तुम उन लोगों से दोस्ती न करो जिन पर अल्लाह ने ग़ज़ब किया वह आख़िरत से उसी तरह ना उम्मीद हो गए हैंए जैसे काफ़िर क़ब्रों वाले से मायूस हो चुके हैं।.
