Ayah 1
وَٱلنَّجْمِ By the star إِذَا when هَوَىٰ it goes down,
English - By the star when it descends, .
हिंदी - क़सम है तारे की जब वह डूबने लगे।.
Ayah 2
مَا Not ضَلَّ has strayed صَاحِبُكُمْ your companion وَمَا and not غَوَىٰ has he erred,
English - Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, .
हिंदी - तुम्हारा साथी न भटका है न बहका है।.
Ayah 3
وَمَا And not يَنطِقُ he speaks عَنِ from ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ the desire.
English - Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. .
हिंदी - और न ही वह अपनी ख़्वाहिश से बात करता है।.
Ayah 4
إِنْ Not هُوَ it إِلَّا (is) except وَحْىٌ a revelation يُوحَىٰ revealed,
English - It is not but a revelation revealed, .
हिंदी - यह तो एक प्रकाशना है जो उतारी जाती है।.
Ayah 5
عَلَّمَهُۥ Has taught him شَدِيدُ the (one) mighty ٱلْقُوَىٰ (in) power,
English - Taught to him by one intense in strength – .
हिंदी - इनको निहायत ताक़तवर ने सिखाया है।.
Ayah 6
ذُو Possessor of soundness. مِرَّةٍ Possessor of soundness. فَٱسْتَوَىٰ And he rose,
English - One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form .
हिंदी - जो मज़बूत हैए फ़िर ज़्ााहिर हुआ।.
Ayah 7
وَهُوَ While he بِٱلْأُفُقِ (was) in the horizon - ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ the highest.
English - While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. .
हिंदी - जब कि वह ऊँचे क्षितिज पर था।.
Ayah 8
ثُمَّ Then دَنَا he approached فَتَدَلَّىٰ and came down,
English - Then he approached and descended .
हिंदी - फिर वह क़रीब आया और झुक गया।.
Ayah 9
فَكَانَ And was قَابَ (at) a distance قَوْسَيْنِ (of) two bow-(lengths) أَوْ or أَدْنَىٰ nearer.
English - And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. .
हिंदी - बस दो कमानों की या उससे कुछ कम दूरी रह गई थी।.
Ayah 10
فَأَوْحَىٰٓ So he revealed إِلَىٰ to عَبْدِهِۦ His slave مَآ what أَوْحَىٰ he revealed.
English - And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. .
हिंदी - तो उस ने प्रकाशना की अपने बन्दे की तरफ़ जो कुछ प्रकाशना की।.
Ayah 11
مَا Not كَذَبَ lied ٱلْفُؤَادُ the heart مَا what رَأَىٰٓ it saw.
English - The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. .
हिंदी - निगाह ने जो कुछ देखा, दिल ने उस में झूठ न मिलाया।.
Ayah 12
أَفَتُمَٰرُونَهُۥ Then will you dispute with him عَلَىٰ about مَا what يَرَىٰ he saw?
English - So will you dispute with him over what he saw? .
हिंदी - क्या तुम उस से झगड़ते हो उस पर जो वह देखता है.
Ayah 13
وَلَقَدْ And certainly رَءَاهُ he saw him نَزْلَةً (in) descent أُخْرَىٰ another,
English - And he certainly saw him in another descent .
हिंदी - और उन्हों ने उस को दूसरी दफ़ा भी उतरते देखा है।.
Ayah 14
عِندَ Near سِدْرَةِ (the) Lote Tree ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ (of) the utmost boundary,
English - At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary – .
हिंदी - सिदरतुल मुन्तहा ;बेरी के पेड़द्ध के पास।.
Ayah 15
عِندَهَا Near it جَنَّةُ (is the) Garden ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ (of) Abode.
English - Near it is the Garden of Refuge – .
हिंदी - उस के पास जन्नतुल मावा (ठिकानेवाली जन्नत) है।.
Ayah 16
إِذْ When يَغْشَى covered ٱلسِّدْرَةَ the Lote Tree مَا what يَغْشَىٰ covers,
English - When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. .
हिंदी - उस वक़्त उस बेरी के पेड़ पर छा रहा था जो कुछ छा रहा था।.
Ayah 17
مَا Not زَاغَ swerved ٱلْبَصَرُ the sight وَمَا and not طَغَىٰ it transgressed.
English - The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. .
हिंदी - निगाह न तो टेढ़ी हुइ और न हद से आगे बढ़ी।.
Ayah 18
لَقَدْ Certainly رَأَىٰ he saw مِنْ of ءَايَٰتِ (the) Signs رَبِّهِ (of) his Lord ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ the Greatest.
English - He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. .
हिंदी - और उस ने यकीनन अपने रब की बड़ी बड़ी निशनियाँ देखीं।.
Ayah 19
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ So have you seen ٱللَّٰتَ the Lat وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ and the Uzza,
English - So have you considered al-Lat and al-‘Uzza? .
हिंदी - क्या तुम ने ग़ौर किया लात और उज़्ज़ा पर.
Ayah 20
وَمَنَوٰةَ And Manat ٱلثَّالِثَةَ the third, ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ the other?
English - And Manat, the third – the other one? .
हिंदी - और तीसरी एक और मनात पर ?.
Ayah 21
أَلَكُمُ Is for you ٱلذَّكَرُ the male وَلَهُ and for Him ٱلْأُنثَىٰ the female?
English - Is the male for you and for Him the female? .
हिंदी - क्या तुम्हारे लिए बेटे हैंए और उसके लिए बेटियाँ।.
Ayah 22
تِلْكَ This, إِذًا then, قِسْمَةٌ (is) a division ضِيزَىٰٓ unfair.
English - That, then, is an unjust division. .
हिंदी - यह तो फिर धाँधली का बँटवारा हुआ।.
Ayah 23
إِنْ Not هِىَ they إِلَّآ (are) except أَسْمَآءٌ names سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ you have named them, أَنتُمْ you وَءَابَآؤُكُم and your forefathers, مَّآ not أَنزَلَ has Allah sent down ٱللَّهُ has Allah sent down بِهَا for it مِن any سُلْطَٰنٍ authority. إِن Not يَتَّبِعُونَ they follow إِلَّا except ٱلظَّنَّ assumption وَمَا and what تَهْوَى desire ٱلْأَنفُسُ the(ir) souls. وَلَقَدْ And certainly جَآءَهُم has come to them مِّن from رَّبِّهِمُ their Lord ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ the guidance.
English - They are not but [mere] names you have named them – you and your forefathers – for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. .
हिंदी - यह कुछ नहीं हैए मगर कुछ नाम हैं जो तुम ने और तुम्हारे बाप दादा ने रख लिए हैं अल्लाह ने इनके लिए कोई दलील नहीं उतारी यह लोग तो बस अटकल और अपनी दिली ख़्वाहिश के पीछे चल रहे हैंए हालाँकि उनके पास उनके रब की तरफ़ से हिदायत भी आ चुकी है।.
Ayah 24
أَمْ Or لِلْإِنسَٰنِ (is) for man مَا what تَمَنَّىٰ he wishes?
English - Or is there for man whatever he wishes? .
हिंदी - क्या इन्सान की हर ख़्वाहिश पुरी होती है.
Ayah 25
فَلِلَّهِ But for Allah ٱلْءَاخِرَةُ (is) the last وَٱلْأُولَىٰ and the first.
English - Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. .
हिंदी - दुनिया और आख़िरत का मालिक तो अल्लाह ही है।.
Ayah 26
وَكَم And how many مِّن of مَّلَكٍ (the) Angels فِى in ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ the heavens لَا not تُغْنِى will avail شَفَٰعَتُهُمْ their intercession شَيْـًٔا anything إِلَّا except مِنۢ after بَعْدِ after أَن [that] يَأْذَنَ Allah has given permission ٱللَّهُ Allah has given permission لِمَن for whom يَشَآءُ He wills وَيَرْضَىٰٓ and approves.
English - And how many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will not avail at all except [only] after Allah has permitted [it] to whom He wills and approves. .
हिंदी - और आसमानों में बहुत से फ़रिशते हैं जिन की सिफ़ारिश कुछ भी काम न आएगी मगर अल्लाह इजाज़त दे जिस को चाहे और जिस को पसनद करे।.
Ayah 27
إِنَّ Indeed, ٱلَّذِينَ those who لَا (do) not يُؤْمِنُونَ believe بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ in the Hereafter, لَيُسَمُّونَ surely they name ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ the Angels تَسْمِيَةَ name(s) ٱلْأُنثَىٰ (of) female,
English - Indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter name the angels female names, .
हिंदी - बेशक जो लोग आख़िरत पर ईमान नहीं रखते वह फ़रिशतों को लड़कियों का नाम देते हैं।.
Ayah 28
وَمَا And not لَهُم for them بِهِۦ about it مِنْ any عِلْمٍ knowledge. إِن Not يَتَّبِعُونَ they follow إِلَّا but ٱلظَّنَّ assumption. وَإِنَّ And indeed, ٱلظَّنَّ the assumption لَا (does) not يُغْنِى avail مِنَ against ٱلْحَقِّ the truth شَيْـًٔا anything.
English - And they have thereof no knowledge. They follow not except assumption, and indeed, assumption avails not against the truth at all. .
हिंदी - और उन्हें उस की कोई ख़बर नहीं, वह सिर्फ़ गुमान की पैरवी करते हैं, और गुमान यक़ीन के मुक़ाबले में कुछ काम नहीं देता।.
Ayah 29
فَأَعْرِضْ So turn away عَن from مَّن (him) who تَوَلَّىٰ turns away عَن from ذِكْرِنَا Our Reminder وَلَمْ and not يُرِدْ he desires إِلَّا except ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ the life ٱلدُّنْيَا (of) the world.
English - So turn away from whoever turns his back on Our message and desires not except the worldly life. .
हिंदी - जो हमारी याद से मुँह फेरता है, और दुनिया की ज़िन्दगी को चाहता है, तो तुम भी उस से मुँह फेर लो।.
Ayah 30
ذَٰلِكَ That مَبْلَغُهُم (is) their sum مِّنَ of ٱلْعِلْمِ knowledge. إِنَّ Indeed, رَبَّكَ your Lord هُوَ (is) He (Who) أَعْلَمُ knows best بِمَن (he) who ضَلَّ strays عَن from سَبِيلِهِۦ His Path, وَهُوَ and He أَعْلَمُ knows best بِمَنِ (he) who ٱهْتَدَىٰ is guided.
English - That is their sum of knowledge. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of who is guided. .
हिंदी - इन लोगों के इल्म की इनतेहा यहीं तक है, तुम्हारा रब ख़ूब जानता है जो उसके रासते से भटक गया, और ख़ूब जानता है जो सीधे रासते पर है।.
Ayah 31
وَلِلَّهِ And for Allah مَا (is) whatever فِى (is) in ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ the heavens وَمَا and whatever فِى (is) in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth لِيَجْزِىَ that He may recompense ٱلَّذِينَ those who أَسَٰٓـُٔوا۟ do evil بِمَا with what عَمِلُوا۟ they have done وَيَجْزِىَ and recompense ٱلَّذِينَ those who أَحْسَنُوا۟ do good بِٱلْحُسْنَى with the best.
English - And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth – that He may recompense those who do evil with [the penalty of] what they have done and recompense those who do good with the best [reward] – .
हिंदी - ज़मीन और आसमानों में जो कुछ है सब अल्लाह का है, ताकि जिन लोगों ने बुराई की है उनको उनकी करतूतों की सज़ा दे और जिन लोगों ने नेकी की है उनको नेकी का बदला मिले।.
Ayah 32
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who يَجْتَنِبُونَ avoid كَبَٰٓئِرَ great ٱلْإِثْمِ sins وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ and the immoralities إِلَّا except ٱللَّمَمَ the small faults; إِنَّ indeed, رَبَّكَ your Lord وَٰسِعُ (is) vast ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ (in) forgiveness. هُوَ He أَعْلَمُ (is) most knowing about you بِكُمْ (is) most knowing about you إِذْ when أَنشَأَكُم He produced you مِّنَ from ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth وَإِذْ and when أَنتُمْ you (were) أَجِنَّةٌ fetuses فِى in بُطُونِ (the) wombs أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ (of) your mothers. فَلَا So (do) not تُزَكُّوٓا۟ ascribe purity أَنفُسَكُمْ (to) yourselves. هُوَ He أَعْلَمُ knows best بِمَنِ (he) who ٱتَّقَىٰٓ fears.
English - Those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, only [committing] slight ones. Indeed, your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He was most knowing of you when He produced you from the earth and when you were fetuses in the wombs of your mothers. So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears Him. .
हिंदी - जो लोग बड़े बड़े गुनाहों और बेहयाइयों से बचते हैं सिवाए छोटे गुनाहों के, बेशक तुम्हारा रब बहुत माफ़ करने वाला है, वह तुम्हें ख़ूब जानता है, जब उस ने तुम्हें ज़मीन से पैदा किया, और जब तुम अपनी माँओं के पेटों में बच्चे थे, फिर तुम अपने आप को पाकीज़ा न समझो, वह ख़ूब जानता है कौन उस से डरता है।.
Ayah 33
أَفَرَءَيْتَ Did you see ٱلَّذِى the one who تَوَلَّىٰ turned away
English - Have you seen the one who turned away .
हिंदी - क्या तुम ने उसे नहीं देखा जिस ने मुँह फेरा।.
Ayah 34
وَأَعْطَىٰ And gave قَلِيلًا a little, وَأَكْدَىٰٓ and withheld?
English - And gave a little and [then] refrained? .
हिंदी - और थोड़ा दे कर रूक गया।.
Ayah 35
أَعِندَهُۥ Is with him عِلْمُ (the) knowledge ٱلْغَيْبِ (of) the unseen, فَهُوَ so he يَرَىٰٓ sees?
English - Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees? .
हिंदी - क्या उस के पास ग़ैब का इल्म है कि वह देख रहा है।.
Ayah 36
أَمْ Or لَمْ not يُنَبَّأْ he was informed بِمَا with what فِى (was) in صُحُفِ (the) Scriptures مُوسَىٰ (of) Musa,
English - Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses .
हिंदी - क्या उसको उन बातों की ख़बर नहीं पहुँची जो मूसा के शास्त्रों में हैं।.
Ayah 37
وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ And Ibrahim, ٱلَّذِى who وَفَّىٰٓ fulfilled?
English - And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] – .
हिंदी - और न इबराहीम के, जिसने वफ़ा की।.
Ayah 38
أَلَّا That not تَزِرُ will bear وَازِرَةٌ a bearer of burdens وِزْرَ (the) burden أُخْرَىٰ (of) another,
English - That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another .
हिंदी - कोई बोझ उठानेवाला दूसरे का बोझ नहीं उठाऐगा।.
Ayah 39
وَأَن And that لَّيْسَ is not لِلْإِنسَٰنِ for man إِلَّا except مَا what سَعَىٰ he strives (for),
English - And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives .
हिंदी - और इंसान के लिए वही है, जिसकी वह कोशिश करता है।.
Ayah 40
وَأَنَّ And that سَعْيَهُۥ his striving سَوْفَ will soon يُرَىٰ be seen.
English - And that his effort is going to be seen – .
हिंदी - और बेशक उस की कोशिश अ़नक़रीब देखी जाएगी।.
Ayah 41
ثُمَّ Then يُجْزَىٰهُ he will be recompensed for it ٱلْجَزَآءَ the recompense ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ the fullest.
English - Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense .
हिंदी - फिर उसे पूरा पूरा बदला दिया जाएगा।.
Ayah 42
وَأَنَّ And that إِلَىٰ to رَبِّكَ your Lord ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ (is) the final goal.
English - And that to your Lord is the finality .
हिंदी - और यक़ीनन तेरे रब की तरफ़ पहुँचना है।.
Ayah 43
وَأَنَّهُۥ And that He هُوَ [He] أَضْحَكَ makes (one) laugh وَأَبْكَىٰ and makes (one) weep.
English - And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep .
हिंदी - और बेशक वही हँसाता और रूलाता है।.
Ayah 44
وَأَنَّهُۥ And that He هُوَ [He] أَمَاتَ causes death وَأَحْيَا and gives life.
English - And that it is He who causes death and gives life .
हिंदी - और बेशक वही मारता और जिलाता है।.
Ayah 45
وَأَنَّهُۥ And that He خَلَقَ created ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ the pairs, ٱلذَّكَرَ the male وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ and the female
English - And that He creates the two mates – the male and female – .
हिंदी - और बेशक वही है जिस ने नर और मादा के जोड़े पैदा किए।.
Ayah 46
مِن From نُّطْفَةٍ a semen-drop إِذَا when تُمْنَىٰ it is emitted.
English - From a sperm-drop when it is emitted .
हिंदी - मनी से जब टपकाई जाती है।.
Ayah 47
وَأَنَّ And that عَلَيْهِ upon Him ٱلنَّشْأَةَ (is) the bringing forth ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ another.
English - And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation .
हिंदी - और दोबारा पैदा करना भी उस के ही ज़िम्मे है।.
Ayah 48
وَأَنَّهُۥ And that He هُوَ [He] أَغْنَىٰ enriches وَأَقْنَىٰ and suffices.
English - And that it is He who enriches and suffices .
हिंदी - और वही मालदार बनाता है, और मुफ़लिस करता है।.
Ayah 49
وَأَنَّهُۥ And that He هُوَ [He] رَبُّ (is the) Lord ٱلشِّعْرَىٰ (of) Sirius
English - And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius .
हिंदी - और वही शुअ़रा (नामी तारे) का रब है।.
Ayah 50
وَأَنَّهُۥٓ And that He أَهْلَكَ destroyed عَادًا Aad ٱلْأُولَىٰ the first,
English - And that He destroyed the first [people of] ‘Aad .
हिंदी - और उसने ही पहले वाले आद को हलाक किया।.
Ayah 51
وَثَمُودَا۟ And Thamud, فَمَآ so not أَبْقَىٰ He spared,
English - And Thamūd – and He did not spare [them] – .
हिंदी - और समूद को भी, तो किसी को बाक़ी न छोड़ा।.
Ayah 52
وَقَوْمَ And (the) people نُوحٍ (of) Nuh مِّن before. قَبْلُ before. إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, they كَانُوا۟ they were هُمْ they were أَظْلَمَ more unjust وَأَطْغَىٰ and more rebellious.
English - And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. .
हिंदी - और उस से पहले नूह की क़ौम को क्यूँ कि वह थे ही बड़े ज़ालिम और बड़े ही सरकश।.
Ayah 53
وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ And the overturned cities أَهْوَىٰ He overthrew
English - And the overturned towns He hurled down .
हिंदी - और उस ने उलटी बस्तियों को दे पटका।.
Ayah 54
فَغَشَّىٰهَا So covered them مَا what غَشَّىٰ covered.
English - And covered them by that which He covered. .
हिंदी - फिर उस पर छाया जो छाया।.
Ayah 55
فَبِأَىِّ Then which (of) ءَالَآءِ the Favors رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord, تَتَمَارَىٰ will you doubt?
English - Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt? .
हिंदी - तो तुम अपने रब की किन किन नेमतों को झुठलाओगे।.
Ayah 56
هَٰذَا This نَذِيرٌ (is) a warner, مِّنَ from ٱلنُّذُرِ the warners ٱلْأُولَىٰٓ the former.
English - This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. .
हिंदी - यह पहले डराने वालों में से एक डराने वाला है।.
Ayah 57
أَزِفَتِ Has approached ٱلْءَازِفَةُ the Approaching Day.
English - The Approaching Day has approached. .
हिंदी - आने वाली क़रीब आ गयी।.
Ayah 58
لَيْسَ Not is لَهَا for it مِن besides دُونِ besides ٱللَّهِ Allah كَاشِفَةٌ any remover.
English - Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. .
हिंदी - अल्लाह के सिवा कोई उसको हटानेवाला नहीं।.
Ayah 59
أَفَمِنْ Then of هَٰذَا this ٱلْحَدِيثِ statement تَعْجَبُونَ you wonder?
English - Then at this statement do you wonder? .
हिंदी - तो क्या तुम लोग इस बात पे ताअज्जुब करते हो ?.
Ayah 60
وَتَضْحَكُونَ And you laugh وَلَا and (do) not تَبْكُونَ weep,
English - And you laugh and do not weep .
हिंदी - और हँसते हो और रोते नहीं हो।.
Ayah 61
وَأَنتُمْ While you سَٰمِدُونَ amuse (yourselves)?
English - While you are proudly sporting? .
हिंदी - और तुम अटखेलियाँ करते हो।.
Ayah 62
فَٱسْجُدُوا۟ So prostrate لِلَّهِ to Allah وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ and worship (Him).
English - So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. .
हिंदी - तो अल्लाह के लिए सजदा करो और उसी की इबादत करो।.
