Ayah 1
Ha Meem.
English - Ha, Meem. .
Ayah 2
By the Book the clear,
English - By the clear Book, .
Ayah 3
Indeed, We revealed it in a Night Blessed. Indeed, We [We] are (ever) warning.
English - Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. .
Ayah 4
Therein is made distinct every affair, wise,
English - On that night is made distinct every precise matter – .
Ayah 5
A command from Us. Indeed, We [We] are (ever) sending,
English - [Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger] .
Ayah 6
As Mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He [He] (is) the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.
English - As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. .
Ayah 7
Lord (of) the heavens and the earth and whatever (is) between both of them, if you are certain.
English - Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them, if you would be certain. .
Ayah 8
(There is) no god except Him; He gives life and causes death, your Lord and (the) Lord (of) your fathers the former.
English - There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death. [He is] your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers. .
Ayah 9
Nay, they (are) in doubt - playing.
English - But they are in doubt, amusing themselves. .
Ayah 10
Then watch (for the) Day (when) will bring the sky smoke visible,
English - Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke. .
Ayah 11
Enveloping the people. This (will be) a punishment painful.
English - Covering the people; this is a painful torment. .
Ayah 12
"Our Lord! Remove from us the punishment; indeed, we (are) believers."
English - [They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers." .
Ayah 13
How can (there be) for them the reminder, when verily, had come to them a Messenger clear.
English - How will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger. .
Ayah 14
Then they turned away from him and said, "One taught, a mad man."
English - Then they turned away from him and said, "[He was] taught [and is] a madman." .
Ayah 15
Indeed, We (will) remove the punishment a little, indeed, you (will) return.
English - Indeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief]. .
Ayah 16
(The) Day We will seize (with) the seizure the greatest, indeed, We (will) take retribution.
English - The Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution. .
Ayah 17
And certainly, We tried before them (the) people (of) Firaun, and came to them a Messenger noble.
English - And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger, .
Ayah 18
That, "Deliver to me (the) servants (of) Allah. Indeed, I am to you a Messenger trustworthy.
English - [Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah. Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger," .
Ayah 19
And that (do) not exalt yourselves against Allah. Indeed, I [I] have come to you with an authority clear.
English - And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority. .
Ayah 20
And indeed, I [I] seek refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me.
English - And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me. .
Ayah 21
And if not you believe me, then leave me alone."
English - But if you do not believe me, then leave me alone." .
Ayah 22
So he called his Lord, "That these (are) a people criminals."
English - And [finally] he called to his Lord that these were a criminal people. .
Ayah 23
Then "Set out with My slaves (by) night. Indeed, you (will be) followed.
English - [Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued. .
Ayah 24
And leave the sea at rest. Indeed, they (are) an army (to be) drowned."
English - And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned." .
Ayah 25
How many (did) they leave of gardens and springs,
English - How much they left behind of gardens and springs .
Ayah 26
And cornfields and places noble,
English - And crops and noble sites .
Ayah 27
And pleasant things they used to therein take delight!
English - And comfort wherein they were amused. .
Ayah 28
Thus. And We made it (an) inherit(ance) (for) a people another.
English - Thus. And We caused to inherit it another people. .
Ayah 29
And not wept for them the heaven and the earth and not they were given respite.
English - And the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved. .
Ayah 30
And certainly, We saved (the) Children of Israel (the) Children of Israel from the punishment the humiliating,
English - And We certainly saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment – .
Ayah 31
From Firaun. Indeed, he was arrogant among the transgressors.
English - From Pharaoh. Indeed, he was a haughty one among the transgressors. .
Ayah 32
And certainly We chose them by knowledge over the worlds.
English - And We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds. .
Ayah 33
And We gave them of the Signs that in it (was) a trial clear.
English - And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. .
Ayah 34
Indeed, these surely, they say,
English - Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying, .
Ayah 35
"Not it (is) but our death the first and not we (will be) raised again.
English - "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected. .
Ayah 36
Then bring our forefathers, if you are truthful."
English - Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." .
Ayah 37
Are they better or (the) people (of) Tubba and those before them? before them? We destroyed them, indeed, they were criminals.
English - Are they better or the people of Tubba‘ and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals. .
Ayah 38
And not We created the heavens and the earth and whatever (is) between them (in) play.
English - And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play. .
Ayah 39
Not We created both of them but in [the] truth, but most of them (do) not know.
English - We did not create them except in truth, but most of them do not know. .
Ayah 40
Indeed, (the) Day of Judgment (the) Day of Judgment (is) an appointed term for them all.
English - Indeed, the Day of Judgment is the appointed time for them all – .
Ayah 41
(The) Day not will avail a relation for a relation anything and not they will be helped.
English - The Day when no relation will avail a relation at all, nor will they be helped – .
Ayah 42
Except, (on) whom Allah has mercy. Allah has mercy. Indeed, He [He] (is) the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
English - Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. .
Ayah 43
Indeed, (the) tree (of) Zaqqum
English - Indeed, the tree of zaqqūm .
Ayah 44
(Will be) food (of) the sinner(s).
English - Is food for the sinful. .
Ayah 45
Like the murky oil, it will boil in the bellies,
English - Like murky oil, it boils within bellies .
Ayah 46
Like boiling (of) scalding water.
English - Like the boiling of scalding water. .
Ayah 47
"Seize him and drag him into (the) midst (of) the Hellfire,
English - [It will be commanded], "Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Hellfire, .
Ayah 48
Then pour over his head of (the) punishment (of) the scalding water.
English - Then pour over his head from the torment of scalding water." .
Ayah 49
Taste! Indeed, you [you] (were) the mighty, the noble.
English - [It will be said], "Taste! Indeed, you are the honored, the noble! .
Ayah 50
Indeed, this (is) what you used to [about it] doubt."
English - Indeed, this is what you used to dispute." .
Ayah 51
Indeed, the righteous (will be) in a place secure,
English - Indeed, the righteous will be in a secure place; .
Ayah 52
In gardens and springs,
English - Within gardens and springs, .
Ayah 53
Wearing garments of fine silk and heavy silk, facing each other.
English - Wearing [garments of] fine silk and brocade, facing each other. .
Ayah 54
Thus. And We will marry them (to) companions with beautiful eyes. (to) companions with beautiful eyes.
English - Thus. And We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. .
Ayah 55
They will call therein for every (kind) (of) fruit, secure.
English - They will call therein for every [kind of] fruit – safe and secure. .
Ayah 56
Not they will taste therein the death except the death the first. And He will protect them (from the) punishment (of) the Hellfire,
English - They will not taste death therein except the first death, and He will have protected them from the punishment of Hellfire .
Ayah 57
A Bounty from your Lord. That - it (will be) the success the great.
English - As bounty from your Lord. That is what is the great attainment. .
Ayah 58
Indeed, We have made it easy in your tongue so that they may take heed.
English - And indeed, We have eased the Qur’an in your tongue that they might be reminded. .
Ayah 59
So watch; indeed, they (too are) watching.
English - So watch, [O Muhammad]; indeed, they are watching [for your end]. .
